On the Tracks

Sorry the flyer above is super blurry. Next Friday night is On the Tracks in downtown Opelika. This wine festival is a really fun event with a great band. Obviously, you don't have to drink (I will be there) to enjoy the atmosphere because the food is wonderful and all the shops are open! Ashley Durham will be happy to sell you wine trail tickets or a tent (the only seating for the night). I would recommend leaving the kiddos at home at enjoying the event with your hubby. See you next Friday evening at On the Tracks!

Uncle Heath's Dove Shoot

Allow me to preface this posting by saying that no children were harmed during these pictures (only doves). Perhaps dressing children in camo to watch their dad hunt (and mom socialize) and later putting mullet wigs on the children is harmful. Remind me of this in a few years.

Colt strutting for his cute friend Maggie Herndon

Maggie with the mullet

Savannah Bug and Cayson playing on the trailer (evidently its fun to run up and down a trailer when you are a toddler)

The pictures says it all

Now lets try those wigs on our kids

Loss

Today I grieve for the world. A wondeful man met his Maker. My granddaddy, James Ray, passed away this afternoon. He was a creative granddad, devoted dad, wonderful husband, Mayor of Troy, member of the House of Representatives, civil engineer, huge AU fan, professor at Troy State but mostly importantly, he loved the Lord with all his heart. Everyone he ever met was blessed because he truely walked with the Lord. I (my dad & siblings agree) never heard his raise his voice or speak negative about anyone. Granddaddy started showing signs of dementia a few years ago. Last year, Casey, Mom and I took the babies to spend the day with granddaddy. We jokingly call Colt "James Ray" because he is so social and wants to meet everyone. My brother and I laughed this afternoon because Granddaddy would go to McDonalds for coffee every morning so he could talk to everyone that came in the door. Unlike many people today, it wasn't a political or self-seeking motivation for his outgoing personality but he really loved people- never judging. We grieve today, not because Granddaddy fought the good race and is finally getting his crown his deserves but because the world lost a wonderful man.

When to Say When

Any suggestion on when to take away Colt's bottle? He is 17 months old and gets a bottle of milk when he goes to sleep at night. We are moving him to a big boy bed in October. Should I make the bottle transition now? Any tips?

Have you tried Dinosaur Eggs? They are delicious! Tart on the outside, sweet on the inside! Kroger stocks them with the plums. Yummy!
