Evie's 5th Tree

Today is Evie's 5th birthday.

Last year I told you the detailed story of her life (click on story to read).

Today I want to tell you what has happened since January 19, 2007.

Different Relationship, Same God

Before Evie was born, my relationship with Christ was ordinary. My best description would be

Comfortable
Complacent
Consistent

Externally I had a great: marriage, job, husband and social group. As long as circumstances didn't rock the boat too much, I didn't have to give up too much and I knew what to expect, I trusted God. This system seemed to work well.

On January 19, 2007, my system failed. God didn't fail, my system did.

I strongly believe that through the power of prayer from a lot of people, Wes and I immediately turned to God after Evie died. Perhaps He used the solid foundation of church Wes and I had been blessed with all of our lives or perhaps the realization of temporary things of this world, but we turned to God.

God changed my system.

I ache when I'm not involved in a bible study
I run every morning so I can have uninterupted prayer
I am reading Leviticus by myself
I love answering Colt's many questions on God

I smile when someone asks about my precious Evie. Because I know without her life I don't know where I would be.

I stumbled across your blog months ago but have never commented. I knew Wes at Auburn, and I too have a "heart baby." Thankfully, my heart baby is doing so well and is almost a year old. He was born with Transposition of the Great Arteries. I wanted you to know you were such an encouragement to me during my pregnancy as I wondered, waited and prayed. Your posts make me smile and how awesome to see "Bitter Miller" as a wonderful dad--I am not surprised at all. God Bless!
