Tagged!!

I've been Tagged by Julie. I was given these rules:

A. First list 10 honest things about yourself - and make it interesting, even if you have to dig deep!
B. Pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you feel embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap.

Here it goes:
1. I hate deciding what to wear to work. I stand at my closet for ever and just stare. When Casey and I lived together she picked out my clothes every morning (or at least gave her approval). Sometimes I still call her to see if she thinks my outfit looks okay.

2. I wish I was coordinated. This would have come in handy during cheerleading try-outs, aerobics, snow skiing, and my wedding reception!

3. We don't watch TV. After not turning it on for 7 days, we disconnected extended cable so we only have basic cable. In case you are interested, it costs $30 to disconnect.

4. I love sugar snap peas. Wes- I'm sorry you are tired of eating them but they are new favorite veggie.

5. I enjoy hunting. I somewhat understand the excitment of watching a deer walk out. Mostly, I like to be alone for 3 hours.

6. I flunked my first driver's test. I pulled out in front of a car. Looking back, it scared the crap out of the officer testing me. Ha! My mom hit telephone pole and flunked her test!

7. Our dog, Addie, is howling to Winnie the Pooh right now. Okay, my honest point is that Addie sings. She likes that Billy Currington about turnips and sweet tea that came out a few years ago. Sometimes she randomly sings as you ride down the road. It's been the cause of many near collisions.

8. Blog stalking pays off! I found a friend that I haven't seen since 5th grade! I left her a stalking type message on blog and we are planning to get together soon!

9. I love my little house. Many days I wish I had more room but I like the challenge of having to be so organized to fit everything in this place. I love that Colt's room is in the center of the house.

10. I hate going through my day with the bed not made. If I run out time in the morning I always come home during lunch to make the bed. I know, I'm crazy.

Okay, these are tagged!

Today

Today is tough. Today we should be celebrating Evie's 2nd birthday with balloons, cake and lots of friends. Instead, we plant a tree and put fresh flowers on her grave. I've learned that sometimes our feeble minds aren't able to parallel the reality of life. I won't go into great detail about my emotions today but I will remind you that the Lord is our Shepard. Yesterday in the deer stand, I reread Psalms 23- "He leads me beside the quiet waters, he restores my soul."

Some of you have asked (and I suspect many more have wondered)- what did Evie look like? She had her dad's dark hair and my mouth & chin. She didn't look like Colt. You could tell she had more my personality- not chilled out like Wes & Colt. She was 7lbs, 8 ozs when she was born (10 days late) and looked completely normal.

If you think about, say a quick prayer for us today. Thank God that we made it through another year. Thank Him that Evie's life had a clear purpose. Sadly, Wes and I have talked to many families who have recently experienced a lifelong tragedy. But thats our mandate given by God- that we share Him through any circumstance. Love you all.

Trouble

I know what you are thinking- after the first night of wasting a box of pasta, why did you let him get back into the pantry and waste a box of oatmeal? Have you ever tried to entertain a 9 month old while cooking? Its difficult!
We went to the doctor yesterday. Colt will be 10 months next week! He weighed 22lbs and was 26 inches long. This is the 75 percentile for weight and 85 percentile for height. Dad says we don't have to worry about saving up for college tuition, we need to save our money to feed this boy for the next 18 years!
Yeah for my friend Kristen Hillyer Allen. She and Aaron are the proud parents of Georgia Elizabeth Allen. Georgia was born Saturday night (10 days late!) and has a proud big brother, Sam. I'll post pictures soon!
Congrats to April & Mike Reed on the birth of Trent and Brooke & John Vakakes on the birth of Will! Both healthy boys were born this week. You can check out the precious pictures of these handsome boys on their blogs!

1. He owns everything ever created with Thomas the Train on it.
2. He has Honey (my mom) wrapped around his finger
3. My nephew can beat up your nephew
4. Trip is always concerned about anything Colt and Savannah put in their mouth
5. If you look in Trip's room, you will find everything in order (future OCDer)
6. Trip loves to get kisses and hugs even though he's a big boy now
7. Trip does flips off the dock at the lake- he is scared of nothing
Happy Birthday!

Just Because Its Monday

One of the many funny Colley children photos. I'm guessing this was taken in 1984. Please notice Casey's holster.

Israel!

Jerusalem

Our boat ride on the Sea of Galilee

Sea of Galilee

Top of Masada overlooking the Dead Sea

The trip to Israel was wonderful! I learned so much and I had many "aahaa" moments when things really came together for me. My favorite spots were the natural places- Sea of Galilee, Dead Sea & wilderness- those places that man hasn't created an elaborate worship place. It's pure and simple- just like I think of Jesus. It's was incredible to walk the steps at Caiaphas' house where Jesus walked on his way to be questioned. God was so good to us during our trip. Despite the conflict in Israel, we never felt threatened (all though we learned a lot about the very different lifestyle Israelis lead).
These are a few of the places we visited:
Caesarea Maritime- where Paul pleaded for his life before Agrippa, also ruins of one of Herod the Great's palaces
Mt. Carmel- Elijah and Baal had the fire contest
Tiberias- on the Sea of Galilee
Mt. of Beatitudes- Sermon site
Capernium- Jesus spent most of his time in this area
Jericho
Dead Sea- yes, we floated
Qumran- site where Dead Sea Scrolls were found by shepard boys
Masada- site of one of Herod the Great's palace and later a fortress for Jews
En Gedi- site where David cut off Saul's robe
Bethlehem
Mt. of Olives
Garden of Gethsemane
Via Dolorosa
Golgotha
Thank you for all the prayers for us on the trip. Also, Wes and Colt did great! I came home Saturday night (after 14 hours on the plane) to a clean house, stocked fridge and two very happy boys! Colt got this big, goofy grin when he saw me and wouldn't take his eyes off me! I was a very happy girl!
